The demise of Dr J S Grewal, an eminent historian has been mourned. He was an alumnus of SCD Govt College, Ludhiana,who also became a VC of GNDU, Amritsar after securing Ph.D in history and DLitt from London. He was also awarded Padam Shri in 2005. Gurbhajan Gill also an alumnus and an eminent Punjabi poet said that he was deeply pained at the partition of Punjab and Dr Grewal remained closely associated with Prof Mohan Singh Memorial Foundation founded by Jagdev Jassowal .Influenced by the collateral brotherhood and friendly relations in Punjab’s villages of rich landlords to the artisans, Muslim faquirs, dhaadhis, singers, drummers and Ras Lila and Ram Lila’s performers, he extensively wrote voluminous historical perspective on many issues of composite culture informed Brij Bhushan Goyal, the Alumni Coordinator. Other alumni K B Singh DGM (Retd) PNB,B P Singh and Harjit Singh, Prof I P Setia,Prof Satya Rani along with Principal of the college Dr Pardeep S. Walia also mourned their alumni’s demise whose life will remain a lighthouse for future generations, they said.
